Abby the Sea LIon rider

I have to admit that when I wrote Nim's Island, even though I thought it ought to be possible to ride a sea lion, I'd never imagined a real child having to do it! But Abby did, and she thought it was great:

Interview with Abbie – and an amazing competition!

This magazine has a great interview with Abbie about starring in Nim's Island - and if you're a girl aged 7 to 14, and live in the USA, there's a competition to win a ticket to go to the premier! So, will I meet you there? Good luck.

(I can say good luck because the competition is nothing to do with me - I just happened to notice it.)

A natural for the part

A lovely interview with Abby about the Nim's Island filming - it's great to hear her describing how much fun she had. And when I met her on set, I was just thrilled to realise how much she loved animals. It certainly showed through!

Movie Preview: Nim's Island

from BuzzSugar -- Entertainment hourly
Movie Preview: Nim's Island
I have a confession to make: Despite the involvement of Gerard Butler and Jodi Foster in this kids' adventure movie, I've been avoiding watching the trailer because I thought it might make me cringe so much my face would get stuck that way. Now, having watched the adorable trailer for Nim's Island — which also stars the ever-charming Abigail Breslin — I feel a little ashamed. And I kind of can't wait to see this movie. Foster plays Alexandra, a reclusive yet wildly successful children's book novelist whose main character, Alex Rover, is the hero to Nim (Breslin), a girl living on her magical Nim's Island with her scientist father. When he goes missing, Nim desperately needs Alexandra's (and Alex Rover's) help in conquering the mysterious island's challenges. Gerard Butler looks nice as usual, and Jodi Foster is refreshingly funny in this preview. Nim's Island opens April 4.
